At the May meeting, Kathy Boyer, a Financial Advisor from Stifel Nicolaus & Co, spoke to the members about the costs of college tuition and several options that parents have to save up for their children's college expenses. Ms. Boyer said that the cost of a 4 year education at a public university is $45-65,000, and $100,000+ for a private college. She said that there are tax credits available for college so take advantage of them. She also gave several options for saving for college, these included:Custodial Accounts Investment Accounts- Mutual funds, etc set aside personally for college savings. Coverdale ESA (also works for private Elementary and High schools) 529 College Savings Plan- 2 types Regular- no limits, anyone can put money into it.
